Book Now: Synod Meeting Saturday 12th October 2024

The next meeting of our Mersey Synod is Saturday 12th October 2024 at Allerton United Reformed Church, Mather Ave, Allerton L18 7HD

Booking is essential and anyone can attend (although only members can vote). We shall gather as leaders of the churches so that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit we may discern the mind of Christ for the future and to give thanks for work that has been completed since we last met.

The theme of this Synod meeting is Living Faith, which is the start of the new Synod theme for the next two years.

Booking to attend the Synod meeting is essential and you will be sent the Book of Reports and other papers nearer the time by email.  If you wish to have a hard copy posted/picked up on the day, then please ask the office.  Email synodoffice@urcmerseysynod.org.uk or ring 0151 722 6590.  We are not providing online access for this meeting.

Travel instructions and parking arrangements will be included with the Book of Reports. There are a few disabled badge bays on the church car park – please book these with the Synod Office if you need one.  As usual, we encourage you to car share, particularly as the church car park is not large.

If you would like lunch, it is essential that you let us know in advance when you book  Chris Scheuer from Allerton URC has kindly offered to provide soup, sandwiches and cakes for us with snack stations too.  Drinks are also provided.  If you have any dietary needs apart from Gluten Free, then we politely ask you to bring your own lunch for safety reasons.  Vegetarian options will be available too.

We encourage you all to bring your own travel mugs to Synod meetings, if you have one, as a mark of us being an Eco Synod.

Anyone is allowed and encouraged to attend Synod meetings (but only members can vote) – please publicise this in your church.

At this Synod meeting there are no workshops, but we will be breaking into geographical Area Groups twice for discussion.  In one of these sessions, you will be asked the following question:

What is your highlight or joy from one of the Synod Committee Reports which you have read or heard from today?

When you register you will be given a name label, a card indicating which two sessions you will be attending (one before and one after lunch) and if you are eligible to vote you will be given a voting card.

There will be a Christian Aid display but no Fairtrade stall.

Questions about any matter regarding any of the Synod reports must be sent to me, Rita, in advance of, before the Synod meeting takes place and no later than by Friday 4th October, please
