Mods Plod Log.

Day 2. Liverpool.

Psalm 150 –

Praise the Lord.

Praise God in his sanctuary;
    praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
    praise him for his surpassing greatness.

A 12.5 mile prayer walk that couldn’t have been more of a contrast to yesterday if it had tried.

The route today took us from Crosby through to Waterloo and over to Seaforth. We then headed up towards Everton and got a warm welcome from Chadwick Mount URC before heading off to the Anglican Cathedral where we enjoyed Fish n Chips! We were met at the Cathedral by one of the members of Allerton URC and after enjoying our lunch we headed off for the final four miles to Allerton in South Liverpool.

 The pilgrimage took us through much of what makes Liverpool famous. The docks at Seaforth, the students on Smithdown Road, the busy commercial Centre near Lime street Station and of course one its two cathedrals. It was a significant contrast to the beauty of the Formby sand dunes and forest, and the sleepy seaside town of Southport from yesterday. It was beautiful in it’s own way and as we walked we remembered to thank God for all the business, the churches, the hospitals and public services as well as all those who volunteer in the hundreds of community groups we met on the way.

 At Caradoc Church we happened to visit during the foodbank and were able to hear how the church had started the much needed initiative and now locals are joining in as volunteers to help one another.

 Liverpool is a vibrant, party city with a varied and rich history. It needs our prayers and it needs a strong church to be a people of hope in a world that can all too often be distracted by the bright lights of celebrity.

 Come Lord Jesus and revive your church.

Help us to be a people of hope, love, forgiveness and justice.

Pour out your spirit on this city that we may serve you and seek your ways for this world.
