Wallasey Village welcome local school for Christmas story and Christingle

St George’s Primary School visited Wallasey Village URC for an interactive Christmas story, songs and a Christingle Service.

Chloe Davies, a teacher at the school, commented: “This is a brilliant event, interactive and fun while telling the stories behind Christmas activities, which is so important. It’s also great for the children to see a minister in a church setting and not just assemblies. “

On 8th December a group of Brownies and Beavers together with some younger siblings joined the congregation at Over United Reformed Church, Winsford to tell the nativity story. The service was led by Mrs Simone Burrows (a Locally Recognised Worship Leader) who also wrote the script. A travel company “Bethlehem Tours” took a group of shepherds, wise men, and Roman soldiers on a journey to Bethlehem. Each group told their story on the journey which terminated at the stable to greet the baby Jesus. On the way the congregation joined in with the songs, old and new, as the travellers journeyed.

At the end of the service the children were given a copy of the Bible Society nativity story entitled: “The Shining Bright Sparkling Light” purchased courtesy of a Synod Small Mission Grant

During the service the congregation donated gifts which were given to the Salvation Army for distribution in Winsford and the local area.

Highfield URC Carols by Candlelight

Highfield URC recently held a Carols by Candlelight service. Comments from the event included: “I thought the service was very good and I like the way you kept to the point of the message.  I attend a different church but now I know you have the service every year I will certainly be back next year, God willing”.
